At UPWIND, we recycle kites and sails — high-performance technical meterial — and give them a new life as sustainable jackets.
Most kites are made in Sri Lanka or Vietnam, then travel the world before ending up buried or incinerated back in Sri Lanka.
That’s where we step in:
UPWIND transforms used kites into durable, eco-friendly pieces, reducing waste and celebrating the spirit of the ocean.
Where Passion Meets Purpose
Red Bull is one of the world’s biggest supporters of action sports — from kitesurfing to mountain biking and beyond.
At UPWIND, we dream of collaborating on an upcycling project with Red Bull to transform kites of their athletes into one-of-a-kind Canopy Jackets.
Our goal? To create a Red Bull Canopy Jacket, crafted from a recycled Red Bull kite, and gift it to the winner of the Red Bull King of the Air in Cape Town (22 Nov – 7 Dec).
We’ve already received a donation of a Red Bull kite, which will soon be transformed into our signature Canopy Jacket — made entirely from recycled kitesurf sails.
Now, we need Red Bull’s support to gift the jacket to the winner of the Red Bull King of the Air 2025 in Cape Town.
